“ Every time I've gone here, I have found each piece of food that I had on my list. The meat counter is very fast and easy to request lots of meat. The overall ambiance is pretty small like the name but nobody beats their meat, so I trust them with my hands. ”
“ So it's down to this tiny place and Aldi for last true grocery stores in Marion, Illinois. And mind you this Smalls place is the last hands on meat packaging place in Marion-- as in big sides of beef and pork are cut up on sight. The meat counter at this place will be a madhouse if more people become aware of this place. They keep 2 inch thick steaks on hand, but will gladly cut'em down to 1 inch if you want. And there's also a sort of lunch counter in back where you take out a box lunch. Be warned that the ground beef is super lean, and you'll have to prepay to have them mix you up a more burger friendly 70/30 mix. They've just built a new attached storage addition onto the place, so it appears this Mom 'n' Pop joint is thriving and here to stay. ”

“ Great hometown small market. The meat department is great. The guys will grind a fresh steak for you right then for fresh ground beef. They also carry Italian Bakery bread (one of my favorites!). While produce is lacking, the small market is convenient and prices are fair. Have and will always be a customer! ”
“ Small's Food Store "Nobody Beats Our Meat" This is about as opposite to the big chains as you can get. Family owned for 40+ years and as the name says.... Small. Not a bad selection, but the real gem is the meat counter. Great selection of cuts however you want them. Reasonable prices and you get the amount you want, no trying to pick the right package and getting more or less than you want. Every package is done right there for you fresh. ”
